Jason Phillips, DDS received his Bachelor’s of Science degree from UT-Knoxville and his doctorate of dental surgery from UT-Memphis. He also completed advanced training at UT Medical Center in the general dental practice residency program.

Dr. Phillips is passionate about providing patients of all ages with excellent dental care,using advanced technologies. He is beloved by his patients because of the personal level of care he provides. Why Should I Schedule Regular Dentist Appointments?

What Is a Tooth Cavity?

A tooth has three layers. The hard outer layer is called enamel. While the enamel which forms the surface of the tooth is the hardest substance in the human body, it is not indestructible. Tooth decay occurs when a bacteria creates acid which eats away at your tooth and leads to a hole in your tooth called a cavity. If left untreated, tooth decay causes pain, tooth loss and infection.
How Can I Prevent Cavities?

In order to prevent cavities, schedule regular oral exams, floss at least once a day, and always spend three minutes brushing your teeth. This period of time will rid your mouth of the bacteria that destroys your tooth enamel. However, do not brush too hard. It only takes a small amount of pressure to remove plaque and bacteria from teeth. In addition, watch your sugar intake and brush your teeth, or rinse out your mouth, after every meal.
What Is a Filling?

Fillings help to restore teeth which have been damaged by decay. A filling will allow your tooth to regain normal, painless functionality and will prevent further decay in the future.
